Q: What is Google Authentication?
A: Google Authenticator is a two-factor authentication (2FA), also known as two-step verification, which is part of a security procedure that requires users to submit two distinct methods of self-verification before gaining access.
Q: What is a Time-based One-Time Password (T-OTP)?
A: T-OTP is a one-time use short-term passcode generated by a computer algorithm. As the code will refresh every 30 seconds, please ensure to log in using the most recent code generated.
Q: Why is it important to secure the account with T-OTP Authenticator?
A: T-OTP authentication is essential for online security because it eliminates the risks associated with compromised passwords. When a password is hacked, guessed, or phished, it is no longer sufficient to prevent intruder access.
Q: Which type of 2FA Authenticator does Flipster recognise?
A: Flipster currently only recognises Google Authenticator as a 'Time-based OTP' for authentication.
Q: Do I need to disable cloud sync for Google Authenticator?
A: For enhanced security, we strongly recommend to turn off cloud sync for Google Authenticator as Google backs up your private keys without encrypting them behind an additional passphrase if turned on. Should a malicious attack take place on your Google account, this allows hackers to have access to your private keys and log in to your accounts with two-factor authentication.
To disable cloud sync for Google Authenticator:
Q: Why am I not able to withdraw immediately after enabling my 2FA?
A: When two-factor authentication is newly enabled or re-enabled, withdrawal function will be restricted for 24 hours for security purposes.
Q: What should I do if I lost my 2FA?
A: If you have lost access to your Flipster authentication code, you may attempt to regain access using your Recovery Key Phrase or QR Code. Open the Google Authenticator app, click the ‘+’ icon, and either scan the QR code or enter the Recovery Key Phrase.
If you do not have the Recovery Key Phrase or QR Code, please get in touch with live chat support or submit a service request form.
Q: Why is the system not recognising my 2FA code?
A: The system may not recognise your 2FA code for a variety of reasons, including:
(a) Your device's time is out of sync with the server.
(b) A third-party application (such as a VPN) disrupts the generator's timezone.
(c) You may have entered the incorrect 2FA generator code.
Q: Can I change my password?
A: You may change your password by logging in to your account and clicking on the [Account] menu. Then, click on [Change] under the Password section to proceed.
Q: What does the Advanced Login Protection do?
A: Advanced Login Protection provides additional security by prompting you to verify your identity using an additional authentication method, which can be in a form of SMS, T-OTP, email or passkey.
If you are currently using the passkey for the login process, please note that there will not be any additional authentication required.
Q: How do I enable/disable Advanced Login Protection on my account?
A: To enable Advanced Login Protection Option:
1. Log in to your account
2. Go to Account > Settings > Security > Password/Authentication (Link provided directs to the Flipster official webpage)
3. Enable Advanced Login Protection.
If you have not added your passkey yet, we highly recommend doing so on the same page.
You can disable the option in the same way, but we highly recommend keeping Advanced Login Protection enabled at all times.
Q: What is a Passkey?
A: A passkey is a modern, secure way to log in without using a password. It uses biometric authentication (like fingerprint or face recognition) or a device PIN to verify your identity. Passkeys are resistant to phishing and work only on your trusted devices, making them a safer and more convenient option.
